Prep - 6

At Clarke Creek, our Curriculum planning is based on the Australian Curriculum.

At Clarke Creek we use the P-6 Curriculum Planning Model which has A and B cycles, where the whole school is working on the same content and topics each term for all learning areas. The content is adjusted to target the approriate levels of the achievement standard. Our content and topics are then aligned with our neughbouring schools in the Marlborough District cluster (St Lawrence, Marlborough, and Milman). We have also recently begun engaging with The Caves State School who is a small school, that is slightly larger than ourselves, whilst just on the outskirts of Rockhampton.

The Australian Curriculum is designed to help all young Australians to become successful learners, confident and creative individuals, and active and informed citizens. Presented as a developmental sequence of learning from Foundation - Year 10, the Australian Curriculum describes to teachers, parents, students and others in the wider community what is to be taught and the quality of learning expected of young people as they progress through school.

The three-dimensional design of the Foundation – Year 10 Australian Curriculum recognises the importance of disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding alongside general capabilities and cross-curriculum priorities.

Disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding are described in the eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, Health and Physical Education, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies and Languages. The latter four learning areas have been written to include multiple subjects, reflecting custom and practice in the discipline. In each learning area or subject, content descriptions specify what young people will learn, and achievement standards describe the depth of understanding and the sophistication of knowledge and skill expected of students at the end of each year level or band of years.

Kindy

In 2023, our Kindergarten enrolments rose above 4 for the first time since our state delivered service began back in 2019. This means that we are now an approved service, and follow the National Quality Standards where we are assessed and monitored. We also receive regular support from the regional Kindergarten team for state delivered kindergartens to maintain the quality delivery of our service.

Our school's Kindergarten program is based on the Queensland kindergarten learning guideline which provides advice for planning, interacting with children, monitoring and assessing learning as teachers engage children in active, language rich learning through play, real-life engagements, routines and transitions.   The kindergarten program further develops children's thinking and problem-solving skills as well as their language, social and creative capabilities. These skills form the foundations for engaging in the content of the Foundation – Year 2 requirements of the Australian Curriculum, supporting continuity of learning for children across kindergarten to Year 2 and a successful transition to Prep.
